Do You Need A Personal Umbrella?

Do You Need A Personal Umbrella?

Do you own your home? Do you have a car? Personal assets? If the answer is yes to any of these questions than you should listen up.

Although you most likely already have homeowners and auto insurance, you should consider some extra coverage.  You don’t know when an accident can happen but when it does, you want to make sure you’re properly covered.

Umbrella policies provide a minimum of $1 million of additional coverage. Now you might be asking yourself,  “Well how much is this going to cost me?” Well, an umbrella policy can cost anywhere from $200 to $500 for the year. With Florida being a sue happy state you should really consider asking your agent for a quote for a personal umbrella.

So, you might also be asking yourself, “How/Why would I get sued”. If you have dependent children, own a dog, have a swimming pool, frequently have guests over, and or even have a long commute to work, then you’re at risk.  Although even if you don’t believe you’re at high risk of being sued, this doesn’t mean it can’t or won’t happen. In addition to you being covered so are your resident dependents/children.

This is definitely something to consider especially if your child is learning to drive and as we all know mistakes happen.
